Day Four!

We underestimated New Mexico and Arizona and realized very early that we weren't going to make it to the Grand Canyon today. Fortunately, Hal and his mother decided to take it easy in Williams, AZ today and see the Canyon tomorrow. So they waited up for us, and we took our time traveling about 600 miles of desert along Route 66.

After a few hours we crossed into Arizona and decided to take a scenic drive through the Petrified Forest. And wow, are we ever glad we stopped.

I really can't put into words how amazing this place was to see. At certain points you could see for 120 miles, and it was just unreal. Pictures definitely don't do it justice. Just unbelievable.

After that we drove for several more hours into the late afternoon. We were planning on just shooting for Williams, but when we saw signs for a giant meteor crater.. Well.. We just had to stop!

After a few miles of back roads we came to the crater and the small museum along side it. It was really cool to see, over 2 and a half miles around!

After seeing the crater we decided we should really get moving and head straight to Williams. We drove through some desert rain before being treated to yet another amazing sunset. We checked into our hotel right downtown (one of the coolest downtowns i have ever seen, might i add), met Hal and his mother for dinner, then came back to call it a night. We're about thirty miles south of the Grand Canyon, and we plan on leaving bright and early to check it out. We have a lot to see and do tomorrow, and we're hoping to get into L.A. sometime late in the evening.

It's time to get some sleep.. So excited for day five!

And yes, we're having the time of our lives!
