It's been quite a week for you, east coast

An earthquake and now a hurricane? Wow, I thought I'd be the one with all the natural disaster stories! It's hard to believe. Just wanted to say that I'm thinking about everyone back home, especially my friends in New York. Specifically Trish, who had to evacuate her house in Rockaway.

Los Angeles is in the midst of some wicked heat right now, so I've been trying to stay around the house and in the beach area lately, where it's a cool 70-80 degrees all the time. Once again, I'm so lucky to live where I do.

Well this week we managed to (thanks to Brittany) get on the guest list to a private event we weren't invited to. It was a Malibu Rum party on Sunset Blvd.

We got there pretty early and enjoyed all the free food we could get our hands on... And maybe a few drinks too. Before long the place started to fill up and we met up with some friends.

The evening ended with a performance by Taio Cruz. If you don't know who that is, don't feel bad. I had no idea until a few days ago. He sings a bunch of the songs you'll hear if you go to any bar on 2nd Street in Harrisburg

Finally a new update!

I figured I'd start off with a few pictures.. Not long after my last update, Hal and I fell into some more free tickets. This time we got to see Incubus at Jimmy Kimmel Live! It was a fun concert and we got to stand right next to Jimmy as he introduced the band. I think we're becoming regulars on his show at this point.

A few days later I stumbled into an incredibly cheap bike from Craigslist. It makes getting around a lot easier. Especially now that I don't have to pay 25 cents for 12 minutes at the parking meters anymore.

Fast forward to this week. Hal and I had put in for Conan tickets when we first got here last month, and we got a confirmation this week saying we had tickets for Wednesday's show.
So we showed up to the Warner Bros. studio lot Wednesday afternoon and got our tickets. This turned out to be really cool because we had to walk from the garage through the studio lot to get to the show. So we pretty much got a free studio tour through all the sound stages. They told us that we weren't allowed to take pictures, but I figured doing the exact opposite couldn't hurt:

It may not look like much, but it's definitely cool to know that so many of my favorite movies were shot in these buildings.. And finally, we arrived!

It was a really fun show. I'll be going back as soon as possible.

Sometime within the last few weeks we also finally went and explored the Redondo Beach pier. It was cool because it felt exactly like the Ocean City, MD boardwalk. We strolled in around sunset so I took some pictures:

What a happy wrecking ball.

I suppose this all brings us up to right now. Hal and I still aren't working yet, not because we don't have work coming sometime soon, but because there just aren't many new shows that are starting up right now. Most of them start up after Labor Day. So we're using this time to do some writing, and it's keeping us pleasantly busy.

In other news, I some how lucked out into another free ticket for next week. I have a pit ticket to the MTV VMAs! So I'll be right up IN the stage. It's going to be so much fun. I got to go to the 09' show as a seat filler and it was such a great time. I also got a ticket to an after party, so that'll be interesting.

So on Sunday, August 28th, keep an eye out for me!

I swear I'm going to try to update this more!

Redondo Life

Wow, it's been a while since my last post. The reason? I've been getting online at Starbucks for about an hour every day and the internet is so slow it takes me forever to do anything! So, I'm definitely looking forward to getting internet sometime in the next few weeks so I can update this thing more. What have I been up to in the last week? This and that.. I'll summarize...

Like I said, I've spent about an hour at Starbucks every day. But it's two blocks away and the internet is free.. So why not!?

I've also been taking Biff EVERYWHERE. It's really nice to live in such a dog friendly area. So the little man gets to go on walks all the time, and finally has a backyard to run around. Needless to say, he's pretty happy.

I'm really lucky to have family over here. Especially since they're from the same area as I am. They definitely know how to make this place feel like home, and Lisa was nice enough to give me some Hartley's chips. Everyone from the Mifflin/Juniata areas knows how amazing these are!

Unlike Beverly Hills, the Redondo/Hermosa/Manhattan Beach area has a lot of great stuff to do for free. Volleyball, swimming, bike trails (I need to get a bike soon!), and concerts. Every Thursday and Sunday nights there are great free concerts at the beach. Such a great way to relax.

We're also really learning the value of patience when it comes to finding furniture in this town. We've found a lot of great stuff by bargaining with thrift store owners and people on Craigslist. And we even found a tv and tv stand just laying along the road. It's really great!

We're also really having a great time just relaxing at the beach. We go to the water almost every day, just to read, walk, swim, or be lazy!

I really love it here. I hope all my friends and family from back home get the chance to come out and enjoy it too at some point, even if it's just for a few days.

I know everyone wants to know about what we'll be doing for work, and I'll definitely have an update on that after this weekend. Troy has been kind enough to help us find some short term work until we have a new tv series to work on(which shouldn't be too long). And we've been working to find something too, it looks like we have a few opportunities and we should get more details very soon. So stay tuned!

Until next time I'll leave you with a video of me playing at an Open Mic night on Monday (Hal wouldn't let me film him, but he was great!).
